Visibility Rules

Public, scheduled reveal, and private picks

Pick visibility determines when other users can see a Confirmed Pick and whether it can contribute to public records. PickProof locks that choice at confirmation so visibility cannot be changed after the outcome is known.

Public Now

Public Now makes an eligible pick publicly visible before the event starts. Internally, this visibility is stored as public_before_start. Because the selection is visible before the result, it can be considered for public feeds, records, leaderboards, and badge calculations under the backend's eligibility rules.

Public Custom scheduled reveal

Public Custom lets a user lock a future reveal time before the game starts. Internally, PickProof preserves this visibility as public_after_start, but the product meaning is a scheduled reveal chosen and locked before game time. The name describes the historical enum; it does not allow a user to wait for the final result and publish selectively.

The reveal schedule is immutable along with the selection, line, odds, units, and confirmation time. Backend rules remain authoritative for when the pick appears and whether it is public-eligible.

Private

Private picks are a Pro software feature for personal tracking. They do not appear in public feeds, public records, leaderboards, or public badge calculations. Pro access changes software features and visibility options; it does not change grading rules or the integrity of a Confirmed Pick.

Why visibility cannot be edited later

Allowing users to make only successful entries public after an event would create an incomplete record. Locking visibility at confirmation prevents that result-based selection. It also lets another user distinguish a pick that was public before the event from one maintained only as a private personal record.

Public records are backend-controlled

A public setting alone does not force an entry into every public surface. The backend evaluates start time, reveal schedule, blocked-user rules, authoritative grade, and other eligibility conditions. Only users with graded public picks should appear in public rankings.

Visibility is not a performance claim. Public records, rankings, badges, ROI, and CLV summarize eligible history. They do not guarantee future results.

Before confirming

Review the event, selection, line, odds, units, and visibility schedule carefully. A duplicate-pick warning may require an additional confirmation. Once the entry is confirmed, those identity and visibility fields cannot be edited.
